1900s Soldered Gold Mesh Purse Whiting & Davis Antique Flapper Bag Victorian Formal Evening Bridal Wedding
This is a lovely antique early 1900's soldered gold tone mesh Whiting & Davis flapper style purse. Perfect for those formal affairs, weddings or for a classic bridal bag.
It has a blue sapphire gemstone set in the clasp. The piece is hallmarked Whiting and Davis Co., as well as the number "4" on the inside of the frame.
The exterior of the light gold tone frame has a lovely engraved deco design on the front of the purse.
The piece is in very nice condition, but does have two very tiny areas of separation on each side of the hinges of the purse, that are quite common in these purses; and they are very hard to see, and do not effect the look or use of the bag.
It is also missing one of the small gold balls at the right hand bottom corner of the purse. You could have it replaced, or remove the one on the other side.
The piece is 6 3/4 inches in length and 5 inches at the widest point, which is at the bottom of the purse.
The wristlet is a woven metal mesh that is approximately 6 inches in length, and in good condition.
It's a terrific piece with some very slight age appropriate wear. Please visit our large selection of vintage purses and collectibles by using our quick links at the bottom of the page.
