LeMaire Fi Opera Glasses 1800s Paris Binoculars Antique Mother Of Pearl Theater Glasses EXCELLENT WORKING CONDITION
Here's a gorgeous antique pair of Paris Lamaire Fi mother of pearl opera glasses or vintage binoculars from the late 1800's with the original case, and a handmade pouch.
They have a etched hallmarked with the "Lamaire Fi" name, as well as "Paris" on the mother of pearl eye pieces, as well as the stamped bee on the underside of one of the bridges.
The glasses are in excellent condition. They also have the mother of pearl on the shaft of the extensions, as well as lovely gold tone beaded edging.
The only issue we can find is ever so slight tarnish to the central brass shaft. The coloration of the mother of pearl is stunning, and in flawless condition.
They measure 3 3/4 inches in width at the base, and are 2 3/4 inches in height when fully extended.
The optics are in excellent condition, with no cracks, chips or scratches; and the fly wheel action is extremely smooth. They work perfectly.
The original leather case has seen better days, and has split seams and the interior lining is disintegrating. It does hold the glasses, and the bee snap closure works perfectly. The leather and lining could be repaired by a leather smith.
A really stunning pair of opera glasses that are great for use or to add to your antique vignette. They come in a handmade heavy upholstery fabric gift or storage pouch. The pouch has three sections for keeping cash, credit cards, cell phone or other small items in it. It has a Velcro closure to keep it securely closed. The color of red is more burgundy red than the photo shows due to light reflection.
