Early 1900s Sterling Silver Guilloche Compact Vanity Case Cigarette Case Victorian Courting Scene
This is a stunning and extremely rare early 1900's Victorian courting scene sterling silver and guilloche vanity compact. It also would fit regular filtered cigarettes. It's an amazing work of art, and a heavy piece for the size.
It has a lovely blue guilloche enamel case with 780 sterling silver base. The lid features a gorgeous hand carved ivory courting scene. The case opens to a large glass mirror, in very good condition, just ever so slight silvering around the edges. The interior is a pretty gold wash, and is hallmarked with two marks that are hard to decipher. One appears to be "L W", which is a Louis Willmott hallmark entered in 1906 London. The other hallmark we are not sure about. There is also a 780 sterling hallmark. All three hallmarks are shown in one of our photos.
The only issue we found is that some of the ivory trim is missing around the edges of the lid, and very slight scuffing to the clear coat lacquer on the bottom of the case. No other issues or damage. It's in amazing condition, and shows beautifully.
