Rare 1800's French Portrait Gold Ormolu Filigree & Enamel Pearl Powder Mirror Compact
This is a gorgeous and quite rare 1800's French ormolu filigree powder compact with hand painted portrait and pearls; and it's in fabulous condition.
A stunning and extremely rare handmade gold tone compact with red and blue enameled detailing, and a hand painted raised ladies portrait on porcelain with metallic foil accents. The gorgeous portrait is surrounded by pearls.
The beautifully ornate framed beveled mirror is also in excellent condition; with no chips, cracks or silver loss. It's about as clear as you can get for a piece of this age; with next to no haze. The interior is also extremely clean.
It comes with a unused down feather powder puff, that is also in excellent condition.
The hinge and closure work as they should. The interior of the compact has the number 64 stamped into the inside bottom of the piece. The exterior bottom is hallmarked "Made In France".
The compact measures approximately 2 3/16th inches in diameter.
