1926 D.F. Briggs Compact Purse Art Deco Silver And Glass Cameo Vintage Makeup Dance Purse
This is a gorgeous and very rare 1926 silver tone D.F. Briggs makeup dance compact purse with a flapper cameo.
The piece is in fantastic condition, no rust or corrosion. It's rhodium plated, and has a beautiful repousse pattern around all the edges of the purse. The only issue we can find is some very slight scuffing to the rhodium plated exterior, that is barely noticeable.
It measures 3 3/4 inches by 2 inches wide, and displays beautifully. It opens to a large glass mirror with some slight haze, and two dial style powder dispensers for loose powder and blush. The interior has a gorgeous holographic style pattern frame around the mirror, as well as on the powder compartment side.
It has a pretty wristlet bar and link chain that is engraved with a lovely pattern, and the hinge and ball clasp closure work perfectly.
This piece is hallmarked on the frame below the mirror with the "D.F.B." hallmark; for the D.F. Briggs company. It also has a hallmark for the Patent date of Feb 9 1926, on the powder compartment side near the clasp.
The black and white glass cameo with a etched flapper is in wonderful condition, as is the black enamel and silver diamond design that trims out the outside of the compact lid.
This would make a wonderful addition to any compact collection, as well as a terrific gift. A great piece if you use loose powder and blush.
