1800s French Portrait & Jewel Gold Ormolu Compact Antique 19th Century Excellent Condition
This is a stunning late 1800's antique French gold ormolu powder and rouge portrait and jewel compact in near mint condition. This piece also has a secret compartment behind the hinge that houses an empty lipstick case.
It has two beautiful hand painted signed portraits that are under glass. It also features beautiful enameling detail in red and lilac enamel, as well as being adorned with prong set pearls and amethyst stones. One side opens to a clear beveled glass mirror that is framed, as well as having two compartments; one for powder and the other for rouge. Each compartment has an unused handmade silk powder puff. The little secret compartment behind the hinge is a place that houses a gold tone empty lipstick case.
This unique and wonderful antique compact has no visible damage. It is hallmarked on the bottom of the piece "Made In France". It also has the number "3" stamped in the bottom of the powder compartment. It measures approximately 3 1/8 by 2 1/4 inches.
A fabulous and extremely rare French compact to add to your collection. We've never found another one like this. It's a truly special piece that comes with a white organza gift pouch.
