Elgin American Lite-O-Matic Enamel Cigarette Case In Original Box Great Working Condition 1940s Case Lighter
This fabulous working condition 1940's Lite-O-Matic Elgin American tortoise shell enamel cigarette case lighter comes in the original box and also comes with the original pouch.
The case is in fabulous condition, with no dents, rust, corrosion or missing or crazed enamel. Any strange marks are only light reflections, not damage. It is lovely inside and out, and works great, with a new flint already installed. The case measures 5 inches in length by 3 1/2 inches in width.
The lighter was tested and works perfectly, the only thing this piece will need is regular lighter fluid, as we are unable to ship through the postal system with flammable liquids.
It has a very unusual way of working. You press a button on the front edge and the case pops open, and when you close the case it automatically lights the lighter. The back side of the case does have a slider locking mechanism for child safety, or for when you want to open and close the case without lighting the lighter.
This piece is hallmarked "ELGIN AMERICAN Made In USA" on the inside clip. The Elgin box that houses the case has some damage on the outside of the lid, as can be viewed in our photo. The pouch is in very good condition, but shows some ever so slight signs of age discoloration.
The gorgeous shiny tortoise shell enamel is what makes this case so very rare, as we have never seen another one like this one, and to find it is such wonderful working condition with the original pouch and box makes for the perfect gift.
